Hypothesis
More velocity equals more momentum.
Procedure
- Gathered the material
- Came up with a hypothesis
- Came up with an experiment to test the hypothesis
- Placed the cart at the end of a meter stick and pushed it lightly
- Recorded the time and distance
- Figured out the velocity of trial #1
- Replaced the cart at the end of a meter stick, and pushed with more force
- Recorded the time and distance
- Figured out the velocity of trial #2
- Repeated step 7 & 8
- Figured out the velocity of trial #3

Conclusion
Our experiment proves our hypothesis that more velocity equals more momentum. During our first trial, we pushed the cart with the least amount of force, and recorded our lowest time and distance. Our second attempt applied more force to the cart, resulting in an increased time and distance. The third, and final, trial gave us the highest distance and time, after we applied more force than the first and second trial. As we applied more force to the cart, increasing its velocity, it increased the inertia of the cart as well. The greater the inertia on the cart, the longer it took to stop it, and the more momentum it had.
